Stop-Loss

Boot: You represent the United States Army. I expect every one of you to be on your best behavior. Here's a list of things you will not do while on leave. You will not drink and drive. You pick up a young lady, let her drive. Let her get the DUI. You will not beat up civilians. You will not fuck anyone underage. I say again, you will not fuck anyone underage. You will not beat your wife, you will not beat your kids. You will not kick your dog. Am I understood?

Brandon: I wasn't planning on giving a speech, I was just over there trying to do my job just like everybody else. Trying to bring my men home safe. You know, most of my men ain't from Texas. It's kind of hard for me to describe to them what I love most. Ribs at Smitty's or the way they keep the beer in tubs at the Ajax Bar, being out at the ranch with my folks. On my bus ride over here, I saw a truck haulin' onions. And I couldn't get the window down, 'cause I, I wanted to smell them. See, onions smell like home to me. They smell like Texas...
Steve: That's right, Sergeant King. We're over there killing them in Iraq so we ain't got to kill them in Texas!

Steve: I'm done. Me and B.K. getting out. You know, if I had to do it again Id be a fucking sniper. One shot. One kill. Let me be the faceless enemy.

Brandon: It ain't a party without a fight.

Brandon: With the shortage of guys and no draft, they're shipping back soldiers who's supposed to be gettin' out. It's a backdoor draft.

Brandon: Sand. Fleas. Flies. Heat. Boredom. Or you can get shot at. Or blown up. That's pretty much it. Sheep on the highway. In Iraq. Big ass flocks of them.

Brandon: Whop wants to play 'Let's start shooting people'?

Michelle: Before Steve came home, they told us how a soldier could be a danger to himself or other people.
Brandon: You think I'm a danger?
Michelle: I've been knowing since sixth grade. I think we've got both kinds of danger here.

Steve: We're not like these guys. We're soldiers. We stand for something, man. We're from Texas.

Rico: Jody got your girl and gone. Ain't no use in going home. Jody got your girl and gone.

Tommy: Always assume every weapon is loaded.

Steve: If you don't fall in beside us, it all falls apart.

Since September 11, 2001, 650,000 American Troops have fought in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. 81,000 of those American troops have been stop-lossed. 30,000 more troops were sent by the President to fight the war against the Iraq Insurgency in 2007. It has not yet been disclosed how many of those soldiers were stop-lossed.

Taking Chance

LtCol Mike Strobl: I will not remove this jacket and desecrate this uniform.

LtCol Mike Strobl: If I'm not over there, what am I? Those guys, guys like Chance... they're Marines.
Charlie Fitts: And you think you're not? Want to be with your family every night - you think you have to justify that? You'd better stop right there, sir. You've brought Chance home. You're his witness now. Without a witness, they just disappear.

April 9, 2004
To the family of PFC Chance Phelps:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Phelps,
I'm sure by now you have learned of Chance's death. I do not have the words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Chance meant the world to me and to all of us here in the Second Platoon. I know parents aren't supposed to have favorites but, trust me, platoon commanders do. Chance was a unique character. Most marines would put into shows of false privalto, Chance would quietly tend to his business. He liked to get people to underestimate him. his quick smile and friendly manner were always disarming and warming, but there was no mistaking, he was fierce in battle as he was gentle in friendship. Please know that he died a hero, more importantly, he lived a hero. It's ironic, but I am certain that if the world had more men like Chance Phelps, there wouldn't be a need for a Marine Corps.

Letters to Juliet

Sophie: I'm sorry, I didn't know true love had an expiration date.

Victor: It's not a mushroom, okay. It's a truffle.
